Map of the Disctrict of ColumbiaAbraham Lincoln MemorialI've been to Washington, District of Columbia, or DC, as a tourist many times over the years. And every time I visit I see something new and different.

Most of us know Washington as the home of our federal government, seeing the Whitehouse and Capitol Dome on news and other television programs.

But Washington is also rich in culture. Museums like the many buildings run by the Smithsonian, memorials to politicians like Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson, or the more somber memorials to our fallen heroes in WW II, Korea, and Vietnam. Walk along the streets and you'll see great works of architecture, art, sculpture, theatres, and concert halls.

If you're a new tourist to Washington DC, we recommend the buildings around The National Mall where you'll find many of the memorials and many of the Smithsonian Museums. If you have more time we'll look at some of the less trodden pathways through town.

Whether visiting for a day or a month the well prepared tourist can always find something new and different to see in Washington, DC.

For a full list of places to visit see our attractions page, for recommended trips here and around the US stop by our RV Travels Blog. And feel free to stop by our forums page to share your experiences here in Washington, DC.

This is Washington, the home of our federal government. If you just want to rant about some of the politics going on here, feel free to let it out on my a different view of politics blog. In fact, you'll find that occasionally I can't help myself and comment a few times throughout these pages.
