Statue of Abraham LincolnSummary:
What do you think of when you imagine touring Washington DC? The Whitehouse, Capitol Building, or the Washington Monument?

For many people the Lincoln Memorial is the first image that comes to mind.

This year several new books have come out on the man that has been memorialized in this large statue. Known for his melancholy, he evidently went through a personally difficult time before he went through a nationally dispiriting time. And just as it was over, even as he was celebrating, his life was cut short. He had paid the price, but never reaped the reward.

Now we celebrate this man, the unlikeliest of heroes who not only re-united the nation but also united the cultures.
